Media Player Classic Home Cinema is a simple, free media player that plays a wide range of different media files. Its appearance is modelled on older versions of Windows Media Player, but unlike that application, this one plays almost every available media format. Ad-free, easy on the processor and easy to use, this is a great utility media player that handles all but the most obscure video and audio formats.
A stable video and audio platform
If you've ever used an older version of Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic Home Cinema should feel very intuitive. The controls are where you'd expect them to be, the menus are clear, and the player doesn't crash or lock up when it encounters an unfamiliar file type (which is admittedly rare anyway). It's also relatively undemanding, which means that it starts quickly and runs smoothly even on older computers. However, it doesn't support streaming video.
An excellent alternative to native video players
Media Player Classic Home Cinema is simpler, easier to use and more versatile than most default video player apps. Unless you want something with stronger streaming support or mainly listen to audio CDs (which it supports but not as well as some competitors) it's an excellent choice.
