MS should try to step back now and again to check out where things are going and where they are coming from. Once the extras started appearing on Media Player, it gained weight, slowed down, and things went downhill from there. Now they're fumbling around because of the complexity involved in maintaining compatibility between next release of Windows and all the code heavy, bundled software that exists in today's versions. It's a shame that things have played out in this way but maybe it gives extra credence to the saying, "if it ain't broken, don't fix it".
And now for the point -> Media Player Classic will play your vids without any complaints whereas the latest official version might mess you around with questions about upgrading, or connecting to the net or even just loading it's really ugly modern skin.
